We all do art. Art is taking objects – oils, vocal chords, baking powder, a hammer – and using our superior human intellect to create something from them. We create what we consider to be our ideal – or at least acceptable – person in the mirror each morning.
We have standards for what art is ideal that come from our basic biological need to classify information. It’s why seeing a large animal baring its teeth would be seen as a threat. Less obvious is why, say, complementary colors appearing side by side should be considered appealing.
